While I was a university student at Berkeley, I and the people around me were constantly balancing the intense workload and other commitments with maintaining our mental well-being. So Quinn was an app I made in my free time after I graduated to help students have better, more successful semesters.
Quinn is a digital personal assistant focused on improving mental well-being and productivity. So any time students are feeling down, stressed out about a class, or anxious or overwhelmed and felt like they didn’t have the resources to manage it, they could pull out Quinn on their phone.
She can give advice, suggestions, and motivation. She also helps you get more work done by helping you plan out your day, creating timed sessions where you can focus on a task, giving you a space to reflect on your day and figure out what you can do better, holding you accountable, celebrating wins and pushing you when you’re not feeling it.
I presented the app during the Techfair at Berkeley where students and industry professionals attended. It was cool to see people use the app firsthand and get feedback on it. Especially when it felt like a solution that resonated with them and they were enthusiastic to use Quinn more.
I eventually pivoted away from working on Quinn for various reasons. One was that since the conversations were all manually written, so it didn’t feel scalable enough, and back then conversational AI wasn’t dynamic enough that I felt it would provide the experience I wanted to.
