Stockholm Institute of Technology is an educational institution in Sweden that trains students through technical courses to be ready for software developer roles. I was chosen to teach a new Hybrid App Development course over 6 weeks.
Since this was the first time the course was being offered, I designed all the lessons and labs projects based on the course objectives. The course ran smoothly and I found it very comfortable to teach the concepts.
Since I had taught programming through virtual lessons before, it was an environment I felt comfortable in. And it was wonderful to interact with students and get to know them throughout the course.
Based on the course evaluation feedback, students seemed to all enjoy the course and they appreciated my focus on a more code-along approach I took where they saw plenty of examples in action. They also valued all the one on one help they received when they were stuck on labs or the final project.
My favorite part was seeing their efforts culminate into their final project, which they all presented on the final day of the course. From no experience creating hybrid applications to the wide variety of apps, they made from scratch by the end was awesome. From a workout tracking app to a flip card memory game to a crypto wallet all using the topics covered in the course.
I taught the course again in December ’22. And it was just as great to teach the material to a new batch of students.
